IT Governance Assessment

Overview

The scope of this assignment is to identify the control and operating environment required to be effective in managing services across IT while mitigating the associated risks inherent in these services. The output is a set of recommendations and a high level roadmap of activities/initiatives required to implement a specific control environment and underlying processes required to implement and manage the controls.

The following Best Practice frameworks are used in this assessment.

CobiT (Control Objectives for IT and related Technology)
ITIL (IT Infrastructure Library)

Approach

The proposed approach consists of:

Initial Kickoff	Half day session with key sponsor Agenda includes: Engagement kick off - agree on scope, deliverables Identify key participants for workshops, survey, interviews Survey – logistics, how to answer survey questions, support process Identification of documentation/artifacts for review
Prioritization Workshop	One day workshop with key stakeholders Agenda to include: CobiT knowledge transfer - Overview & awareness Detailed workshop with key participants Drive out 10-12 prioritized high level controls from Cobit’s 34 control objectives
Survey/Interviews	Survey of IT organization Interviews (8-10) with Managers and staff Documentation review (audit findings, control and process policies, guides, existing metrics, reporting, dashboards, etc)
Validation Workshop	4 hour workshop with participants in Corporate IT Validate output from survey, interviews Get consensus on current environment
Report and Roadmap Development	The report will cover: The current status of control/process environment Recommendations on areas of improvement for control & operating environment to allow effective management of services Roadmap outlining
